Product Review

Applying to Law School is a step-by-step guide through the perils and pitfalls of the law school application process. Author J.D. Miller, a veteran of the application process, assists potential law students in finding and applying to the law school most suited for them.

The law school application process is a lot like trying to merge into the Indianapolis 500 with your compact car. Hundreds of tons of steel and rubber whipping around turn after turn in a tight pack. All you can do is try to time your entry into the chaos just right.

If you are prepared and ready, it will be a reasonably neat and seamless process in which you will transition from your previous background to your new job as a first year student with a minimum of disruption. If you are unprepared or just plain unlucky, it will be a multiple vehicle pile-up of catastrophic proportions. It will force you to submit hurried and poorly drafted applications, bad LSAT scores, and late financial aid applications which will knock you off balance and diminish your opportunities before you ever even get the chance to make it into the classroom.

Don’t worry. It hasn’t happened yet. This book is here to help.

Topics include:
The Fundamental Theorem of Law School Happiness

Surprizingly, for this type of work, this is an extremely readable little book, written with a rather endearing self-deprecating tone and a good sense of humor. Most importanly, it is full of relevant nuts-and-bolts observations and good advice. I particularly appreciate the fact that it is down to earth, presents the good, bad, and ugly of the law-school application process, and, through it, remains calm and level-headed. This makes it a highly valuable reference for those who are contemplating applying to law school.

I found Applying to Law School to be an extremely helpful book. It took an overwhelming and intimidating process and broke it down into digestible pieces. It's full of great tips that help you through the whole process. The author also has a great sense of humor which makes it easy to read. If you are contemplating applying to law school, this is a must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Making the miserable a little more bearable..., January 19, 2012

I think I would rather stick my finger in my eye than suffer through a law school application. But when you gotta do what you gotta do, this handy dandy little guide is just the ticket to making the miserable a little more bearable. Easy to read and follow, it makes the mind-numbingly painful application process a tad more pleasant than a root canal. Mr. Miller knows his stuff. He's suffered the process and wants to save you that pain. Don't pass it up!
