I got this book to get ready for the ACT test on 2012. this book is from 2010 but still a very solid, comprehensive and full book. I only had a month to study for the test, but the book really covers everything you need to know for the exam, from English, math, reading ,science and even good essay examples and tips for the optional writing part.
I really liked the tips for the test through out the book, and the overall difficulty of questions is hard- so when I took the test itself I felt it was easier than what I practiced before. This is very important because some of the prep books like Kaplan's have really easy and basic questions that don't prepare you well for the test. So Barron's did a really good job with this book.
About the optional CD, I didn't really had the time to take the extra tests over there but they seemed helpful for the extra practice, though I don't see the point of practicing a paper test like the act on the computer.
A better idea...Read more

My son got a 30 on his first take of the ACT after using this book to prepare. If the book had anything to do with it, totally worth it!
