5.0 out of 5 stars best book- from a kid that actually used it, May 26, 2009

This review is from: Barron's AP European History with CD-ROM (Barron's AP European History (W/CD)) (Paperback)
I was the kid this year that went out and bought 5 different review books because I wanted to make sure I had the right stuff. Out of the five I purchased this was by far the best one. The lay out of the book is simple, its easy to follow and it truly helped me in the areas I didn't understand. Come the night before the exam, Barons was the only thing I trusted. (Also- the review questions/tests are actually true questions that were very similar to what they had on the test- while many other review books had very random and extremely easy questions presenting other kids in my class with a false hope that they would do well on the test)

I have taught AP Euro for over a decade and this book has everything you could ever want to be successful on the exam. The charts at the end of each chapter are really good and the questions are a good simulation of the exam. The scores my students receive on the sample tests and the ones on the CD almost always correlate to the ones they get on the test, unless they either work very hard or very little between the sample test and the exam. I really like the DBQ advice and rubrics. The DBQ and how to beat it are really ex[plained well.

The historical content is perfect. It contains what students need to know for the exam without superfluous and pedantic detail. This is simply the best guide out there, and I have heard that the next edition will have even better FRQ advice and rubrics and a full scoring guide.

If there is one weakness of this text it is that it does not have the new scoring of the exam which does NOT deduct 1/4 point for each incorrect...Read more

I just took the European History Exam this year and i didnt get my score yet but i feel like i did really well. I used the previous version of this book but this one is probably even better.

If you like short, organized, and main points then this is for you b/c the type of questions they ask on the A.P. test are like the ones in this book. (a bit easier though).
