After reading many reviews and trying to figure out which workbook is a better choice, I decided to buy the Kaplan, McGraw Hill, and the Barron's workbooks and decide for myself. So, I decided to write this note for those who may be trying to make sense of all the reviews (btw, I don't write reviews usually).
- The book has good coverage of algebra, arithmetic, word problems, geometry, and more.
- It has two complete math tests, where Kaplan has none.
- I liked the quiz and answers, and reviews of the topic chapters.
- Various study tips and how to prep for the test throughout the book is a nice thing to have.
The McGraw was #2 on my list, but it didn't cover probability and statistics. So, I ended up returning Kaplan and McGraw and keeping this one. Very happy with it, and totally recommend it.

if you havent done "high school math" in a long time (and lets face it, who has?) you need this book! i raised my gmat score 60 points because of this book. it has very detailed explanations that are easy to understand, and also many many great review questions. sure, the questions may be "easy", but the gmat quantitative section builds on BASICS, and this book is a great refresher for that!! it also has a great section on the dreaded "data sufficiency". i would recommend this book as your first gmat math workbook purchase!!

I self studied and scored a 770 on the GMAT. Here is my analysis of Barron's GMAT Math Workbook:
===== OVERVIEW =====
The Barron's GMAT Math Workbook is a recently published book covering the quant part of the test. It is Barron's first such book - the other book published by this company is a general GMAT guide. However, I wouldn't compare the two: the GMAT Math Workbook is far superior to the general guide and, in my opinion, a much more useful resource for students struggling with GMAT math. As the book itself notes, it is not necessarily intended to teach you anything new, but to merely refresh your knowledge of mostly high school level math. If you're just starting out, you should know that the GMAT does not test complex mathematics (no integrals or logarithms here!), but rather simple concepts sometimes made difficult by the severe time constraints and the presentation (Data Sufficiency, for instance, will puzzle most first time test takers)...Read more
