The Miller Analogies Test is widely used to screen applicants to graduate level academic programs and as a placement exam for management positions in many businesses. This edition's updated introduction fully explains recent revisions to the MAT test, including the addition of experimental questions, many of which are included among this manual's added practice questions. Summary: book not so bad 2010-06-05
Comment: I purchased this book based on the reviews - both good and bad. To be honest the book is fine. Once you read and apply the strategies, you can do well on the practice tests. I hope to take the test in the fall and I hope this book will help me achieve a decent score.

Comment: The Barron's MAT study guide was truly helpful. I applied very late to a grad school program and had one week to study for the MAT. I scored in the 50th percentile on the pretest. I did all of the practice tests and read through a lot of the vocab, history, etc in the back of the book before going to bed each night.
On the actual test, I scored in the 93rd percentile! I approached each question like it was a puzzle to figure out, and the book teaches you how to recognize what the test questions are looking for. I would have had no idea how to deal with this test without the study guide.
Who says you can't cram for this kind of test - just practice, practice, practice until you begin to see relationships within the questions. (And I actually had 2 questions on the real test that were exactly the same as on the practice exams.) I never really felt like I knew what I was doing, but evidently I became a great guesser, plus my stress level was reduced as I noticed improvement in the practice exams.

Comment: I chose this book based on other reviews. It is the only book I used. I did not see exact questions on the test, but many of the vocabulary words were the same. I didn't even do the practice tests; I read the answers to the practice test and learned to better understand the relationships of the words. I am convinced that studying this book helped me pass the M.A.T. on my first try!

Summary: Pretty good test prep book! 2008-09-21
Comment: I haven't taken the test yet, but feel that this book prepares me much more than Kaplan's MAT book. The practice tests are harder, which is very helpful. And there are a lot of them! I would recommend this book.

Comment: This was my favorite of three test prep books for the MAT. It had challenging but varied questions and really explained the types of questions and frequency of those types on the test - which instantly helped me answer a few more correctly.
