CLEP College Mathematics w/CD-ROM (CLEP Test Preparation)
Paperback: 10 pages
Publisher: Research & Education Association; 2008-03-19
It's probably one of the better, if not best single resources available - but you still need to look at a few others. I've been out of high school for quite some time and ultimately purchased the idiot's guide to the fundamentals of Algebra. I'm not an idiot..I've passed 11 of the 12 Dantes/Clep's I've taken.... It just seems like the older you get, the more your brain classifies "memory" as disposable !

THE GOOD: The included CD program is very helpful because its timed and really gives a sense of speed and activity. Unfortunately, if you have the CD in, the CD drive runs *constantly* which is loud and annoying if you have a laptop. Other than that, a great resource.
THE BAD: If I had taken some math courses before and this was just review, I think I would have been happy. But there were some genuinely new concepts for me and the explanations were unclear at best. I found a few typos and some explanations left me mystified and didn't resemble an official college math textbook I own.
THE UNFORTUNATE: The publishing company "REA" online help, feedback, or updates are nonexistent. The website was very 1990s both in looks and functionality (bad).
CONCLUSION: On the whole not happy with this product and STILL looking for a good CLEP resource.

I have REA's CLEP College Mathemmatics, the Barron's CLEP 10th Edition Guide as well as the Princeton Review's 4th Edition Cracking the CLEP and have to say if there is only one book to own it is this one; the REA book. It seems to be the most thorough out of all three I listed. Second I would go with the Princeton Review but only because of the explanations that it provides are really good but it is vague in covering all the topics that you do actually need to practice for this CLEP exam. The Barron's book is great to have more questions to practice on. But overall the REA had the most detailed information in the book but it happens to be one of the most expensive.
Here is the deal: You don't need the CD's since all the questions are included in the book that are on the CD, however if you are going to buy a book that is used you may want to have the CD so you can ensure that when you take the practice exams you aren't looking at a page that someone made a mark in the...Read more
