Summary: Great Book, horrible on-line support 2010-03-10
Comment: I will say this; the book is well written. The concepts are clear and easy to understand...
That being said, I was completely unprepared for the GRE using just the book. Countless times I tried to use the on-line supplements and the website continually locked up or timed out. I did try different computers with different connections with the same result.
I have been out of school for over a decade and can't remember the last time I have taken a timed test. You really need the practice tests to get a feel for how the actual test will be.
This book is great for refreshing you on the subjects, but find another source for taking actual sample tests.

Summary: Princeton GRE 2010-03-03
Comment: The tips they have are useful in a very "to-the-point" manner. It serves as a good refresher to some of the things I haven't been tested on since the SATs. I figured the key is still in learning more vocabulary words and I resorted to searching online help rather than using only the list provided in this book. I thought the definitions given were too simple and does not allow me to fully grasp the context of the word I am learning.

Summary: One of the best GRE books 2010-03-03
Comment: This is a great book that teaches some strategies to answer the questions on the GRE. It is much more useful than the books by Kaplan and ETS, although there are some minor errors scattered in the book. The online practice tests are difficult, but that will push you to study even harder and I got a higher-than-expected score.

Summary: A crash course with three internet practice tests! 2010-03-02
Comment: This book is a nice overview and preparation material for the GRE, especially because of its online companion at [...]; which basically means being able to take three genuine-looking GRE tests.
The book itself contains lots and lots of information and tips about the test. Some of the methods suggested -which are labeled "counterintuitive" in the book- did not appear useful to me because I suppose I was aiming for a higher-than-average score and found them to be slightly inefficient; but you can easily ignore their techniques and focus on your on method.
It does contain specifics for the verbal, cuantitative, and analytical sections, as well as what to do, how to pace yourself, and what to focus on according to your goal score for each section and overall desired score.
I used it more like a crash course but it could probably be used for a longer period of time as well. Also, the book material is light, which makes it easy to carry around. I am happy I bought it.

Summary: Great tips, but inconsistant explanations 2010-02-21
Comment: Overall, this is a great starter book to prepare for the GRE. It has lots of great tips on how to prepare, but it was insufficient in its explanations of the sample questions. The sample questions in the verbal part was well put together, but when you get to the math part, the sample questions offers little explanations how they got the answer. A few sample questions were poorly worded in the math section. This should not be the only book you use to study for the GRE...it's just good as a starter book.
