I find Emanuel outlines in general to be great. I found the crim outline in particular useful for its very simple and thorough presentation of crim blackletter. My professor often offers either his own gloss to prevailing majority rules or the theory behind them - this is great for establishing the baseline in American criminal law.

This text provides a sound foundation for students beginning the study of Criminal Law. While many of the Criminal Law courses for undergraduates are narrowed down versions of the original cases, this text provides students with the ability to read cases from the original source. This merges the law along with the social expectations held for law and resulting policies. I use this text to encourage a critical analysis of law and all the actors who impact upon our Nation of Laws. I highly suggest the use of Law and Society by Vago as a companion text.
