Everybody should read this book. Yes, it will help you with your business school applications as promised, but the way it will help you is unique and innovative. In addition to the advice around essays, recommenders and the like, Malachuk provides tried and true techniques that will help you lead a more fulfilling life. Her techniques will provide you with more foresight and understanding, and as a direct result your applications will be more honest, convincing and effective. Her resume is impressive to say the least, and her diverse life experiences have enabled her to advise folks from all walks of life and every corner of the earth. If you're applying to business school, read this book. If you're not applying to business school, still read this book.

If you're not into the whole navel-gazing, yoga, kum-ba-yah thing, you might be frustrated with this book, which is almost more a guide to "life coaching" and "becoming a better person" than it is a to-the-point collection of MBA admissions advice. I mean, it's an interesting read, and god knows we could use MORE people in this world (in the MBA world in particular) who are interested in issues of "karma" and "the hero's journey", etc.

So I'm torn: it's a worth-while read if you want to contemplate your life in a Deep Way (and then incorporate that contemplation into your essays), but it goes about things in such a round-about way that it's probably not for you if you're in a hurry and just want to Get To The Advice Part, Already. There are other books I've been using that focus more on pragmatic tools and tips.

I guess I could summarize that this author is the "Anti-Sandy Kriesberg" << that guy seems to be all about how to (fake) your way in, whatever...Read more
