CODENAME: CHANDLER

She's an elite spy, working for an agency so secret only three people know it exists. Trained by the best of the best, she has honed her body, her instincts, and her intellect to become the perfect weapon.

FLEE

Then her cover is explosively blown, and she becomes a walking bulls-eye, stalked by assassins who want the secrets she holds, and those who'd prefer she die before talking.

Chandler now has twenty-four hours to thwart a kidnapping, stop a murderous psychopath, uncover the mystery of her past, retire five highly-trained contract killers, and save the world from nuclear annihilation, all while dodging 10,000 bullets and a tenacious cop named Jack Daniels.

Buckle up. It's going to be one helluva ride.

4.0 out of 5 stars Physics-Defying Action-Packed Spy Thriller!, April 29, 2011

If you like thrillers, spies, and physics-defying action movies, you're going to love FLEE. Chandler (only her codename - we never learn her "real" name of course) is like Angelina Jolie in every spy/action thriller you've ever seen - on steroids and amphetamines.

I can't tell you much about the story itself without giving too much away, and the twists and turns in this book are such fun, I won't spoil it for you. Suffice to say that the story will keep you on your toes, turning page after breathless page, wondering just what could possibly happen next?!

It was a fun read, especially if you expect that super-spies can defy most of the laws of physics and action/thriller books, like action/thriller movies, take the idea of "coincidence" to a whole new level. Voss Peterson and Konrath wrote seamlessly together - I couldn't tell who was writing what, so there were no distractions. And I was particularly amused by references to ebooks and Kindles, as well as the...Read more

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my review. At first, I did not like this book at all. I have to be fair and tell you that thrillers are not really my cup of tea. And I've never read these authors before, but I decided to give this book a chance and surprisingly found that I was actually kind of enjoying it towards the end. It is a very fast paced, exciting read.

Chandler is a spy who learns a lot about herself while fleeing from past and present enemies. She rushes through one life threatening encounter to another without time to take a breath in between. The story would make a great action packed movie. Chandler reminded me of Angelina Jolie in "Lara Croft, Tomb Raider" or Jennifer Garner in "Alias". It was filled with ninja-like assassins, clones and Russians,...Read more

As a guy, the myth of James Bond has its attractions. That "I am a lethal weapon with a sense of humor" meme has aged well. But what about capable, and complex, female super-agents? When younger, I loved the Modesty Blaise series. In "Flee", our authors have created "Chandler", a female protagonist so secret, so competent, and so fiercely determined, as to make me forget every super-heroine I've known before. Catwoman? Meh. Supergirl? Yawn. Wonder Woman? No real character.

Does Chandler defy physics? Absolutely! And I want more! But she is not omniscient or all powerful. She is SMART; keeps her cool; and relies with total trust upon her secret (never met) handler "Fleming". I really like Chandler. She has deep feelings, and is totally honorable.

The tension and pace of this novel was totally frantic. ONLY START TO READ THIS WHEN YOU CAN FINISH IT THE SAME DAY.

I was totally amazed and fooled by the secret premise of the novel. I was...Read more
