I have an 11th grader. She and I had been researching ways for her to avail of scholarships and financial aid. The Free College Resource Book has made it easier for us to get the information that we need and not get lost through the process. The book addresses the student, not just the parents. It helps the student go through the process without too much maneuvering of the parents. Busy parents will find this very helpful. Another thing I like about the book is that it is not too big or bulky. My daughter could fit it easily in her purse. Other books we bought were just too bulky, but lacking in information. This petite book is packed with a lot of helpful tips and information, which are laid out in an organized manner. The books give a realistic approach to college admission. What tests to take, how to prepare for the tests, what types of student loans and grants are available, how to write a winning essay, what to expect during the interview, how to apply for scholarships and so...Read more

This review is from: Free College Resource Book: Inside Secrets From Two Parents Who Put Five Kids Through College for Next to Nothing (Paperback)
As a parent of an eleventh grade student, I am eager to learn all I can about saving money on college expenses. I was intrigued by the fact the authors of FREE COLLEGE RESOURCE BOOK put five children through college at no cost to them. I thought these authors must know lots of money saving secrets. I was not disappointed.

FREE COLLEGE RESOURCE BOOK is more than a listing of scholarships. The first section takes the time to get your child thinking about a career path. It also covers the importance of your child being a well rounded individual so they are more appealing to scholarship sponsors.

Along with finding money, this book gives tips on writing essays, handling interviews, and choosing the right college. Students are encouraged to keep a journal and organize brochures, letters, etc., in an easy to find system. FREE COLLEGE RESOURCE BOOK is a valuable resource for college bound students and their parents.

Free College is a great resource book that should be on everyone's bookshelf. It's a handy reference guide for pertinent college funding information. In this book, the authors give an in-depth look at how to position yourself to receive free money from sources I never knew existed. I was amazed by the variety of information waiting to be absorbed in every page on how discovering your interests, evaluating your career goals, volunteering and extracurricular activities play an important role in obtaining scholarship funds.

Free College also helps you decipher the various college funding lingo/language in ways which help you better understand the process. In addition, you'll learn organizational tips, search tips, and how to write outstanding essays that grab the attention of scholarship sponsors. This is a book you'll refer to over and over during your quest for higher education. Free College is well worth your investment.
