Comment: This book hasn't been helpful at all. The McGraw-Hill prep. for ACT book has been much more useful even though it is more expensive. I wouldn't bother with the aforementioned book.

Comment: I gave this book to my daughter who is scheduled to take the ACT this month. Initially she was not thrilled, but then she opened it and began to read. The book offers quick, easy to read sections for test taking skills, what to expect from the exam and more. It sure beats trying to tell her this stuff myself! Thanks for a great tool!

Comment: I am convinced that this is the book to buy for high school students who are preparing to take the SAT and/or ACT tests. It is a well-written resource guide full of advice from teenagers who have gone through the experience of taking the tests. It has tips, strategies and helpful hints in all areas even with the specific academic sections of the exam. It's an "all in one" book. I am a teacher and I also tutor students who are preparing for the exams and this book is the perfect resource book to help them along.

Summary: Outstanding! 2007-08-14
Comment: My children are as different as night and day. One read everything he could to improve his SAT / ACT scores. The other -- don't even mention reading any book that is not required. That is why this book is perfect for him.
How to Survive the SAT (and ACT) is written in an easy to read format. My son can just pick up the book, open to any page and read a segment. He does not have to read the entire book to benefit from the advice.
The advice is given by students who have taken the SAT / ACT. This is more powerful than advice from a parent or teacher. Students listen to their peers more readily than to an adult. In addition, students share the experience of the test. They share what they did correctly and what they would do differently.
Since reading this book, my gift to high school seniors will be a copy of How to Survive the SAT (and ACT). It will make a wonderful and appreciated gift.
