The International Student Handbook 2011 is the only book exclusively for foreign students. It has information on 2,900 colleges, that includes each school’s “international profile,” covering financial aid, Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) requirements, housing availability and special services for international students. It also includes step-by-step guidelines on how to prepare for and apply to colleges in the United States, find financial aid and obtain a student visa. An appendix lists EducationUSA advising centers around the world, where students can go locally for assistance and more information. Comprehensive indexes and a detailed glossary of terms will help students find schools that meet their needs.

This review is from: International Student Handbook 2011 (College Board International Student Handbook) (Paperback) I purchase this book for my high school exchange student who wants to attend college in America. The book gives general information about which schools offer financial aid for international students but not much else. The book does describe the types of student visas and the application process. Most of the book is a large table which lists the costs (gives out of state cost for public colleges) and if the college offered financial aid. The book does not describe how much or the type of financial aid that is available. I had to purchase another book that describes the individual colleges and universities and the programs offered at each one. Because of the ease of use and the financial info I give the book 4 stars. The book is best if it is paired with another College Guide. |
