I bought this book to help me prepare for my pre-doctoral internship in psychology and found it to be quite useful. It covers a wide range of topics including how to decide which sites are a good fit for you, filling out the AAPI applications, tips and examples for the essays and cover letters, interview suggestions and sample questions, and general info about the match process. Not only did it help me to have a better understanding of the process but it was really useful in providing some guidance in writing my essays and cover letters. Of course, lots of people use this book so you can't just copy the examples. At this point, I have quite a handful of interviews so I think my applications were well received and have found this book to be helpful every step of the way.

I am generally pretty skeptical of books like this, but I bought it for help in writing the standard APAGS essays. The advice in the book helped me to polish my essays to an extent that my very fussy advisor made only minimal suggestions to my drafts.
My main complaint is that the book has not been updated to reflect the online APPI submission process.

This textbook has great relevance for students looking for an internship; for students who already have an intern site the textbook will provide supplemental resources.
