Summary: Kaplan ACT 2004-07-14
Comment: I would highly, highly recommend this review book to any person planning to take the ACT, whether the exam is next week or next month. When I took the PLAN test (pre-ACT) I was projected to get a 28 on the ACT. My lowest score on that test came from the english section. However, after about 2-3 weeks of intense study of this book, I managed a 34 on the ACT and a 36 on the english section. This book may not help you quite that much, I don't know, but when they say "We Guarantee a Higher Score," they arn't kidding. I know a lot of your friends may tell you that there's no reason to study for the ACT/SAT, it just tests what you already know, but these people are wrong. It's not all about what you know, its about applying what you know in taking the test, and this book prepares you extremely well for this. Once again, highly recommended.

Summary: An excellent prep book for all 2003-03-04
Comment: I used this book in conjunction with the Princeton review book to study for the ACT. I had taken the ACT previously and wanted to increase my overall composite score, but mainly my english score. The book is divided into three lessons for each of the four subjects test on the ACT; reading, math, science, and english. I liked the way Kaplan divided up this book into manageable chunks so that I don't feel overwhelmed by the information. The book reviews the basic grammar rules tested on the ACT, and my favorite, the 20 ACT grammar hot spots which identify the 20 most commonly tested grammar rules. To top it off, the is an appendix in the back that reviews grammar is distinguishes between right and wrong usage of rules. This helped me increase by english score from mid-low 20's to a 31.

Also very helpful was the the appendix of the 100 key math concepts in teh back of the book. Though my math was already a strong area for me, I reviewed these concepts and raised my math score to a 35.

Overall, this book is simple to understand and anyone taking the ACT would benefit from reviewing Kaplan's testing tips and going over the math and grammar rules tested. After reading this book, I felt more confident going into the test day, and i the end I beat my goal of a score of 30 and got a composite score of 33.
