This review is from: Kaplan GRE Exam 2010-2011 Premier with CD-ROM (Kaplan GRE Premier Program (W/CD)) (Paperback) I bought this but can't use the disc because I have a MAC. They should tell you that it only runs on Windows. I took my first GRE in 2003 after completing my BA. I'm considering applying to a PhD program, and all the schools I looked at require a GRE score from the last five years or so, so I needed to go back to square one. I'm extremely weak in math skills (this was my weak point on my first GRE), and I was hoping that the Kaplan GRE Exam Premier with CD-ROM would help me review basic concepts. The first thing I did was to register the online companion (the code is printed inside the back cover). This unlocks a three-month trial (despite the fact that the enrollment agreement says that you'll continue to have access for six months), which includes printable study sheets, GRE software for your PDA (Kaplan To Go!, which costs an additional $24.95), a few practice tests, and some short videos. It gives you some good practice questions and strategies. The book also comes with a CD, advertised to contain "5 full-length practice tests, 100s of additional practice questions, detailed answer explanations..." But, if you've bought a PC in the last 5 years, you can't use this CD. The CD is incompatible with Windows 7 AND Windows Vista. OOPS! Kaplan has no fix for this available. Neither does Microsoft, but then again, why blame MS? Kaplan is the one marketing software as "PREMIER 2011," while its software isn't compatible with PREMIER computers that came out in the last 5 years. If you bought this, I hope you kept your receipt! Because there's no refund for this ripoff without one. |
