Kaplan seems to do a really good job of dividing the types of questions and responses that are typically seen on the MCAT. They provide a structured format on how to tackle each passage. In doing so, the methods Kaplan uses will help you understand what you're reading in a short amount of time. So far, the book really seems to help me with my "glazing" problem. That's simply where you get to the end of the passage and realize that you didn't comprehend much of what you read. The book helps to ensure that not only are you reading the material, but you're actively reading it. The book offers a lot of passages and questions based on those passages. At the end of the practice tests, the answers are provided with thorough explanations as to why they were correct or incorrect. According to the "About Verbal Reasoning" section, the Verbal section is the most responsive to strategy. I found that the verbal reasoning book was especially useful. It gave very useful tips on how to approach the passages. The thing that I found to be the most useful in the book though was that it gave a lot of practice. I ended up with a decent score on the verbal reasoning portion. Also, the passages are just impossible to read. purchase examkrackers or princeton review hyperlearning verbal instead. |
