Looking back as a graduating 3L, this book would have been an excellent read the summer before my 1L year. Where I was completely clueless and at a loss for what to expect, this book would have been helpful in filling in the gaps. Will most of the incoming 1Ls take its advice? Probably not. I don't think anyone is really prepared for law school until they are there. However, for those who like being informed, this book will provide you with the basics as to what to expect your 1L year. With this knowledge in mind, you can make the most out of your law school experience by knowing where to start in dealing with potential issues and confusion, should they arise. All in all, a good quick read. Don't expect it to actually help you "survive" law school, but it's a good reference guide.

This book covers it all, from applying to law school, your first year experience, choosing upper level courses, and finally taking (and hopefully passing!) the bar exam. The book has all the basis covered and would be great for any student, but especially for those who are the first in their family heading off to law school or are feeling somewhat overwhelmed with how to approach the whole process. The book even goes into paper writing tips (noting words commonly misused in legal writing), example study schedules, and exam taking strategies. This book will tell you what to expect from the process and will add a sense of confidence as you approach law school!
