Summary: Save your money.... 2009-01-04
Comment: Amazingly poorly edited. There are so many mistakes and misprints I can't believe it made it past the publisher. I'm no mathematician, but all you have to do is look at some of the stuff and you can see blatant, uncomplicated and obvious errors. I can't express my frustration at attempting to use this book. Save your money.... find something else.

Summary: Error prone book that shouldn't be published 2008-12-21
Comment: I checked out this book from the library, if I had bought the book, I'd feel cheated of my money. There're, on average, 1 error every 3 pages in this book. Frankly, I don't even know how this manuscript even passed through the editors at McGraw-Hill (assuming the book even has one). Most of the errors are very basic. For example, the question asks about: a + b. The answer is for a - b. These types of simple errors can be easily avoided if someone just checks the manuscript before it was sent to the printer.
My lesson from this: always check the reviews before you get a book!

Summary: DON'T BUY THIS!!!!! 2008-09-09
Comment: I concur with most of what has been written. This book is awful. I'm taking the GRE and wanted to review material that I haven't used in many years. The abundance of exercises impressed me and so I purchased the book. There are so many errors that the publisher should be embarrassed to be associated with it. Even worse, while the writer obviously knows his math, he is completely lacking in teaching skills. He often begins with unnecessarily convoluted explanations that will only intimidate readers who haven't used this material in a while. The Kaplan book has been much more helpful. TAKE THIS BOOK OFF THE MARKET!

Summary: It's not too bad 2008-05-12
Comment: Yes, it is true, this book has many simple errors. However, the great number of practice examples offered in this book makes up for many of the simple errors. Plus, most of the errors in this book should not fool even the most deficient of math students. I believe that those planning to take the gre or gmat should not put of buying this book.
