Once you've been through college, even as a science major (as opposed to a humanities major where you use more complex words more often) you should be smart enough to know a lot of words. That being said, I feel that about half the words in this are just filler. I suppose it's good to review them but I went through the same words in high school when I was studying for the SAT/ACT. So unless you partied through college and just paid the nerd in your class to write your essays, you should still remember these words.
Approximately another third of this, is words that I think a college kid knows but are good to review since you've probably never heard the official definition to. That leaves you with maybe fifty or sixty words that are going to even remotely be a challenge. And only ten of these words (max) will be absolutely new to you. Out of 500 words though? I got this to listen in my car during my commute. It plays on my car cd player and the words spell out on the display. The readers are clear and easy to understand. Great poduct!

I was able to download the mp3s onto my zune. That allowed me to listen to the definitions while driving to and from work. The words can be sorted in different ways, I listened to them on random, sorted by level of difficulty. I found I knew most of the easy level, so I concentrated on the moderate and hard levels, over and over. The word is read, then the definition, the word is repeated, then used in a sentence. I would recommend this product, great for efficient studying in a busy schedule.
