Summary: Good explanatory answers, but an unreal amount of typos! 2007-08-14
Comment: I found the study guide to be somewhat useful, but I wasted quite a bit of time trying to figure out arithmetic problems where there were typos in the question itself, the explanation, or both. It took me much more time than it should have on numerous math exercises simply because I kept trying to figure out why my answer was "wrong". Then of course there were a lot of garden variety misspellings (which didn't affect my studying but reflected poorly on the quality of the book). I hope the 18th edition is better, not that it will help me any.

Summary: Information overload! 2007-03-22
Comment: There is a lot of info in here and I am not sure that it is really necessary. Some areas are not explained very thoroughly, ex. some math questions and some of the science. I would not reccommend it. I was studying for an HOAE exam and got fed up with this book and bought another one that was more helpful. Even the newer addition still has mistakes. You would think they would fix those by now!

Summary: Nothing Wrong w/ Being Over-Prepared 2007-01-31
Comment: this study guide book covers a lot of material that you may not need; it also cover a lot of material that you will need. If you can work through this book--and some areas are difficult--then you will be ready for just about anything an entrance exam could present.
I found it very, very helpful--especially in math and reading comp
**just a note, there are about math 10 problems that have typos or incorrect answers, but I have yet to find any book in the world that is perfect**

Summary: math errors 2005-09-26
Comment: This book has various math errors. I would expect it to be right as we are using it to study for exams. I am not a math wizard but I expect a study book to be done without errors.

Summary: Can be overwhelming 2004-04-10
Comment: When I purchased this book, I didn't have any reviews to go from as this is the "new" edition. I recently took the nursing exam and the test wasn't nearly as in depth as this book. I feel like I wasted a lot of time learning anatomy and physiology that wasn't even needed for the test. There were a lot of practice questions throughout the book but I found it difficult to study from those. I have been out of college for almost 10 years so the book was helpful to brush up on some of those math and science concepts that were forgotten. I would recommend purchasing Barron's "How to Prepare for the Nursing School Entrance Exams". It was easier to follow and stuck to the basic concepts of the test subjects.
