Summary: Read, Outlined, Studied, Passed 2008-10-03
Comment: I purchased this book in early August. I studied for a month by reading it front to back two times (first time contracts didn't make much sense). After getting a general understanding, I outlined the book with main ideas which I didn't fully remember. Finally, I read over my outline several times, did the practice exams, studied those... and passed the exam :)

I definitely recommend this book!

Summary: TAKE THE CLASS! DON'T BOTHER BUYING THIS! 2008-09-04
Comment: ****** REAL ADVICE FOR REAL PEOPLE IN THE WORKFORCE / BUSY LIFE ****** I bought this book and the Barrons book for the Clep exam. I read the book entirely and took notes for the bold words. The test has 2 exams for preparation. It took me a month to read the whole thing from start to finish. I took the exam using this book and FAILED. I took it again using the Barron's book and PASSED. The legal scenarios I found to be the most helpful portions of the book. Not all the legal terms that I saw on the exam appeared in this book. I have a 3.71 GPA and I study pretty hard for tests so this caught me off guard. The test was so hard that every answer seemed to be worded almost the same so its very tricky. Those other reviews with 5 stars may have been written by individuals who don't work a full-time job or have scholarships and only go attend school all day. If you are a student and only a student then I'd say buy it. Let me warn you that this book alone is not suffice at all. The book is very thin and it doesn't cover enough. It does help you but I would say only 65%. The other 35% was foreign and I would have needed to buy a third book to find these terms. Just take the class its easier and less time-consuming.

Summary: REA does it again 2008-08-21
Comment: Once again, REA has produced a study guide that all but insures that you'll pass the exam. This was my second time using their study guides, and once again I have been spared the time and expense of another college class that was not in my field of interst. I purchased the version that comes with the test software CD, which I highly recommend, especially if you haven't taken a CLEP exam before.

Summary: All I needed to pass this clep 2008-06-24
Comment: This study guide was all I used to get a 71 on the Business Law clep. I was planning on studying it for a few days before the exam but I got busy and only spent about a day and a half on it. I got really frustrated on the section on contract law, the material was explained well but I found it so confusing I put down the book and didn't study anymore that day. Then the day before the test I read the review section cover to cover, including the contract law chapter and it made sense to me reading it for the second time, I think I just needed time to let the material settle in my brain because I found the terms very confusing the first time I read it. I took the first practice test and scored a 62 on it. Good enough for a pass, I was done studying. The next morning right before the exam, I spent about 1 hour reviewing the book, only reading the sentences that had a word in bold print. I sat for this exam without much confidence but knew I'd easily pass 15 questions in to the exam, my actual score on the exam was 71. The questions in the REA guides exam were more difficult than the questions on the real test, which made me unjustly nervous about sitting for the real thing. You have to understand contracts and torts pretty well as well as there being 1 question on the writ of certoriari (supreme court question, kind of random). Don't spend too much time focusing on the details of business partnerships and corporations, just know the generalities and you'll do well. This test focuses mostly on contracts between people and the general legal environment of business (HR laws). If you understood that stuff you'll score in the upper percentiles on this one.
