Product Review

On July 4, 1776, the United States declared itself a free and independent nation. Two weeks later, the Continental Congress began working on the Articles of Confederation to create a government for the new country. By 1787 that government was found to be ineffective. A convention was called to amend the articles. The delegates quickly realized amendment wasn't enough, a new type of government had to be created. The result of their deliberations was the Constitution of the United States, ratified in 1789. The First Congress proposed ten amendments, known as the Bill of Rights. Over the next 210 years there were seventeen more amendments. This book will help you to read, study and understand the founding documents of our nation as well as the rights and responsibilities of our government and citizens.

I found this guide very informative and thought provoking. After 35 years since graduation looking at this document clearly provided new insight and better understanding on it's importance in our daily life. I would recommend it to everyone. We should all know what our Constitution really says about our rights and freedoms.

I needed to pass a US constitution exam as part of my California teaching credential. I used this book for the exam given at American River College. I studied it from cover to cover for three days and passed easily. Great study guide.

I thought I knew enough about the Constitution from my high school and college classes to pass a test. I just didn't want to take a chance. I found this little book to be the perfect study guide for the Constitution test. I think a good study guide does more than force the memorization of facts. It frames the subject with useful information and improves understanding. This guide does that without adding any political overtones or commentary. The excerpts from the Federalist Papers were intriguing and actually reinforced the material.

It might be possible to prepare for a test by just reading the Constitution. However, this book gave me three or four passes through the Constitution. I read the Constitution, then I read the annotation. I followed that with the study aids and the practice test. Twice through that and I was ready. Not only did I pass the test, but I really think I understand the Constitution better than before..
